Beginner's Reef | Course Guide

Welcome to Oceankind — the ocean is calling you in.

In this big blue world, every diver begins a journey uniquely their own. You are not a spectator but the hero of your adventure. This beginner mission will guide you as you take your first steps toward the ocean.

Mission 1: Define Your Role

“What kind of diver do you want to be?”

Everyone dives for different reasons, and each path leads to a different destination.

Here, we introduce four main course paths to help you discover the route that best fits your goals.

Recreational Explorer: Enjoy the fun of travel, marine life, and carefree underwater adventures.

This is where every underwater journey begins. Complete the four essential recreational certifications and you’ll gain the skills to dive confidently at most sites around the world—discovering an ocean that truly belongs to you. ① Open Water Diver (SDI) Learn fundamental skills and dive safely to 18m. ② Advanced Adventure Diver (SDI) Dive to 30m, refine buoyancy, master finning techniques, and handle basic tools. ③ Nitrox Diver (SDI) Use enriched air to extend your no-decompression limits. Highly recommended to pair with the Advanced course. ④ Rescue Diver (SDI) Requires 40+ logged dives. Learn accident prevention and rescue techniques, becoming a more reliable dive buddy.

“Before stepping onto the Island, ask yourself these questions.”

Diving isn’t just a course—it’s a journey of adventure.
Before you begin, take a moment to reflect on these questions.
They will help you understand your motivations, and help us understand what kind of diver you hope to become.

  1. Is my condition suitable?

    • What is my health status, swimming ability, and comfort in water?

    • Do I need to make any other preparations first?

  2. What do I want to achieve?

    • Do I just want to experience it and dive freely while on vacation?

    • Or do I hope to pursue long-term education and gradually become a professional?

  3. What are my limitations after the course?

    • The depth, environment, and equipment usage vary from class to class; where do I want to go?

    • Will I want to continue my education?

  4. How much can I commit?

    • Time: course days + practice dives

    • Budget: training fees + future equipment investment

    • Energy: do you want something fun and relaxed, or a demanding, skill-focused path?

  5. Is there a community or activities afterward?

    • Do I hope to continue participating in community activities after class?

    • Do I have diving partners, and am I willing to grow together with them?

Action Tip

Write down your answers and bring them to us.
This will help you clarify your direction and have a more meaningful conversation with your instructor.

  • If you want to keep things light and fun → We’ll follow training standards while making sure the experience stays enjoyable, without unnecessary pressure.

  • If you want disciplined, intensive training → We’ll go beyond the standards and tailor more challenging sessions— but be ready: you may need extra training time to meet the requirements!

  • If you’re still unsure→ Slow down, start from the basics; we will explore together to find the path that suits you best.
